Easter Centerpiece

This Easter centerpiece is cute for March/April and really easy to make!

First, get a big bowl to be the centerpiece and fill it with moss:

Next, add greenery and vines for texture:

 

Now, add bunnies or easter decorations in the middle:

Last, add eggs for embellishment!

Mesh Deco Wreaths

Hello, friends!  I wanted to share with you a fun craft my sister Melody has been working on.  She has made these beautiful wreaths below for Valentine's Day and St. Patty's Day!  They are easy and fun to make and add a little festivity to any room or door!

This wreath is called "curly mesh deco."

Materials:

-16 inch green metal wire wreath (can be found at Hobby Lobby)

-4 rolls of deco mesh, colors of choice (21 inch wide, 10 yards per roll)

-1 pack chenille pipe cleaners (25 per pack, will use 23 of them for 1 wreath)

-ribbon for big bow in center

Cut mesh into strips your choice of 9-12 inches (pictured 12 inches). *ALL MUST BE SAME LENGTH*  Then roll these strips up tightly one at a time.  After rolling, layer 3, 4, or 5 on top of each other and use a pipe cleaner to tie them together.  Make sure this knot is tight.  Then use the other ends of the same pipe cleaner to attach to the wreath.  Continue around the wreath until it is full, then secure your bow in the middle with a pipe cleaner.  This is somewhat time consuming, so you might want to put in a movie ;)

This is a flat tulle Valentine's wreath.  

Materials:

-5 rolls of tulle (25 yards/roll for $4.99 at Hobby Lobby) colors of your choice

-round white styrofoam ring 8 or 10 inches wide

-ribbon to use for hanging

To start, cut the tulle into 12 inch long strips.  Take 2 of the same color and tie around the wreath, making sure that the knot is double knotted and very tight.  Continue with the rest of the strips, 2 at a time, until the wreath is full.  Finally, tie a ribbon around to hang.

This is a St. Patrick's Day flat tulle wreath, made the same as the Valentine's one above.

Sassy Children's Artwork

Want to do some fun, cute artwork with your little one on a chilly winter day?  Here are some easy DIY artwork ideas!

This sweet cupid was made with a footprint!  Simply paint the child's foot red and have them step on the paper.  Embellish with a bow and arrow (I used silver Sharpie), goggly eyes and a smile!

This sweet heart was painted on a little 3 x 3 canvas using two overlapping thumbprints.  The background was creatively finger painted by the child artist as well!  I embellished by drawing an arrow using a fine point black Sharpie!  Don't forget to write the child's initials and date.

These snowmen were made using a footprint! I painted one foot white and had the child step on the colored paper three times.  I used different color paint to embellish the snowmen with hats, scarves, arms, buttons and faces!

You can also just do one snowman instead of three using the same technique!

Here is a little baby snowman made using fingerprints on a 3 x 3 canvas.  I used white paint on the thumbs to make the body, after I let him finger paint the background his favorite color (green) of course!  I then used different colors of paint to embellish the body of the snowman!

DIY Festive Cotton Napkins

These festive cotton napkins are easy to make with just 1 yard of fun fabric for kids!  You can use any fabric and make them for different holidays, parties, etc.

Simply take 1 yard of fabric, fold the right sides together, and cut into four squares.  Then sew right sides together leaving three inches to turn.  Cut off the corners, and then turn.  Next, press them with an iron and sew a decorative stitch around the outside!  (be sure to catch where the turn was, otherwise it will remain open)  This is a quick and easy craft and super cute to pack in lunch boxes!! Don't forget they're reusable ;)

Keep in mind these don't have to be perfect, so you don't have to have a lot of sewing experience to make them, because little ones aren't going to be judging your sewing ability!

Sweet Valentine's Gift

This is a great Valentine's Day gift idea for your special someone!  My daughter made this as an anniversary present for her boyfriend.

All you need is a deck of playing cards, glue, a hole puncher, and a key ring.  She typed each thing out on the computer and printed it, but feel free to use your own handwriting to make it more personal.

Simply write/type one thing you love about your significant other and glue it on the face of the playing card!

The front and back covers are on Joker cards, so you still have 52 cards to use for things you love.

 This is such a sweet, personal gift to give to anyone you love to remind them of the little, funny things they do that make you happy! Enjoy!

Let It Snow

Happy New Year, friends!  Forgive me for not having posted in a while, the start of 2013 has been busy for me.  Below is a fun way to accent your door during the winter months with a cute snowman wreath!

I attached three different sized grapevine wreaths (purchased at Hobby Lobby) together with floral wire (available at any craft store).  I added a scarf and matching hat for embellishment.

I hope you enjoy this fun decoration on your front door, back door or side entrance to give your house a winter wonderland feel!

Snowmen Cake Pop Treats

These snowmen cake pops are the perfect treat for any sweet tooth you may have this winter!  They are easy to make and will dazzle at any holiday party!  Just follow these few steps and see for yourself ;)

All you need is a box of cake mix, frosting, white chocolate chips, Oreos and some gel frosting to do the faces of the snowmen.  Bake the cake as you would normally.  Mix about 1/4 of a cup of frosting with the baked cake to make the cake part of the cake pops.  You can follow any recipe to make these.  After mixing the cake and frosting together, scoop out little balls of this mix to create the snowman's head.  Set these aside.

Now, heat the white chocolate chips in the microwave until they melt, but not burn!  Roll the cake and frosting mixed balls in the melted chocolate until covered, then stick to the top of an Oreo.  Let dry, then embellish with black and orange gel frosting for eyes, mouth and nose.

Enjoy these sweet snowmen cake pops!  You can use white cake or chocolate cake and get creative with decorating (scarves, hats, etc.).  I hope you all have a happy new year!
